What a balls up!
Well it could have been if I hadn't been checking the qantas website - you see it all started a few weeks ago..........
Steve posted on a mates Facebook page that we were heading to the states around the same time the mate was.
Mate sends back that Qantas is having a sale
Great! Check it all out and decide that we will fly into LA instead of NY as it was cheaper aka $6500 compared to $10000 cheaper.
Not a problem, I'll sort out the credit cards and get organised.
Well a few days later I just happen to be eating my breakfast at the computer when I check the qantas website again, low and behold the sale ends today! FARRRRRRKKKKK!!!
So I run around like a chook with it's head cut off checking our credit card to extend the limit - no can do, have to ring up and even then it may take a few day. Shame on me for being responsible and reducing our credit limit to the minimum.
Well that sux cause that means Steve will have to do it and he hates talking on the phone so as I push the kids out the door for school and slap some make up on, I head to work to sort it all out.
Call Steve, great he says! Hates talking to people on the phone but I stress how important it is - in other words I tell him he has to do it or pay more money!
I call my boss who wasn't at work to make sure she was cool with me spending time sorting tickets out - gotta cover my ass in case someone doesn't like what I am doing. All good then Steve calls back.
Happy Days he's got the extension! Woo Hoo! Off I go to book the tickets.
Now I have another dilemma - how long am I booking the holiday for? Steve's keen for only three weeks where I am keen for four - even five if we could! We have to leave on the 1st of May as that is when the time period is but when would we be coming home!!
During all this I have staff arriving at work, phones ringing, safes to open and general shop shit to deal with AHHHHH!!!!!
So I call Steve- but he's in a meeting. Well that decides it - I book for just over four weeks!! YAY
So it's done.
We are going.
I am glad in the end that the sale was for the time period as it forced us to choose which weekend we were going to Jazz Festival.
Now we just have to sort out the rest of the trip - I hope it's not as stressful as booking the tickets was.
