After a family meeting the night before we decided to get all the tourist things done first on the Bahamas' leg of the trip which meant the Aquaventure Park at the Atlantis Resort - just down the road from our villa.
One view of Atlantis
After handing over more the $450 to ride in a water park we were on our way to the slides and the mile long river that surrounds the park.
The Sting Ray tank
Dinner for Steve - lol
You have to walk through a series of man made caves that went beside and through the tanks. That was one of the many Barracudas in the tank.
Don't know what this is but it was huge! There was an even bigger one but he was camera shy today.
Saw Shark hiding under the sand for his next prey
Saw Shark over the top of the tube
We thought we were being clever by arriving at 10am - we were wrong. The line for the lockers was massive and it took us nearly an hour from when we paid to when we got in the water. Luckily, standing in the line gave me time to lather myself in spray on sunscreen, an item I am familiar in using. It was about 30 degrees while we were waiting in line and this guy made me laugh
Socks and sandals on a 30 degree day
Waiting in line for the lockers
Shaye and Steve hit the water quicker then Jacks and I did and so we lost them in about 5 minutes. Once we got our tubes sorted we looked for the other two at the first ride but they weren't there. Oh well, we can look for the after we finish this ride. That was our thought process for the next 2 hours as Jacks and I went to every ride we could.
The weather was awesome, the sun was high and the water was warm. The sound of American accents filled the air as Jackson and I rode all the tube rides then made our way over to the Leap of Faith ride. Frickin Awesome!!
The ride is almost a vertical drop down and it goes into a tube that goes through the shark tank! Not that you can see anything if you are game enough to open your eyes.
After finishing all the rides Jacks and I thought we better have a better look for the other two so we made our way back to the start. Shaye and Steve were there waiting for us. I am sure Steve will tell you how his day was but ours was fricking AWESOME!!! We did a few more rides then headed back to the villa.
Just a few of the multi million dollar boats moored in the harbour
So after 3 hours in the water and numerous amounts of fun had - remember my lathering of sunscreen I did while standing in line? Yeh well turns out this ex pharmacy assistant is totally helpless and should be fired (ha!) because I can't even practise my own advice. Looks like I am shit at using spray sunscreen! Go on - have a laugh at the picture. As you can see by my candy stripped legs I got burnt to a crisp - on the places I didn't spray. You can't really see it in this picture but I also (stupidly) grazed my knee and foot on the bottom of a tube area so now not only do I have candy stripped legs but knees of a seven year old!
Serves me right though - I should (and do) know better. To add insult to injury after trying to have an arvo nap once home Jackson and I walked down to the shops to get some after sun care. $19 and only 0.8% lignocaine latter I am rubbing on the C10 and weak as piss lignocaine gel on with gusto. Oh well it can add to the new tan line I'm going to across by boobs - yes that area got burnt too but I'm not putting up a photo of that! Lets just say I'm going to need bronzer for my pasty white arms to match my brown/red cleavage for work when I get home.
