Our last night in New Orleans saw us back at Camellia Grill.
It is seriously one of the best places to eat not only for money value but the
entertainment factor as well. Steve being Steve had to get a photo with our
servers to commemorate our last meal.
Jackson was so hungry he ordered two BLTs
Chilli Cheese Fries
Lenord and Herb - our servers at Camellia Grill
After a really shitty sleep I woke up at 1:30am with no
chance of going back to sleep as our wakeup call was for 3:30am. Once that time
hit I woke everyone up and we got ourselves ready for the flight to the
Bahamas.
Driving to the airport was really bittersweet. I was excited
to head to Paradise Island and sit by the pool with my mango daiquiri but I
also didn’t really want to leave New Orleans because I know I’m probably never
going to come back. As much as I trawl the real estate websites and fantasise
about buying a place in the French Quarter, it’s never going to happen as it is
too far away for us to have an investment property here. Maybe we need to look
closer to home – New Zealand? Ha – as if Steve would agree to that.
Our flight to the Bahamas had a stopover in Charlotte and
Shaye managed to spew just as we landed. We arrived in the Bahamas to warm heat
and glad we had dressed appropriately. After going through customs with a ‘Are
you bringing in any alcohol?’ flippant question, we found a T A X I and made
our way over the bridge to Paradise Island.
We were early for our room so before the desk lady could say
‘Would you like to have lunch…..’ we were sitting at a table at Viola’s
scoffing down cheeseburgers and BLT’s. We were down to one meal that day so we
had to make it good. My two mango daiquiris went down really well and the
strong rum persuaded me to sit by the pool and watch Shaye swim in the pool
once we had stashed our bags in the room.
Finally at Viola's to eat our one meal of the day
Nothing much else happened today except taking in the beach
and swimming in the pool – just what I was looking forward to.
